The BMW CS Registry is a newsletter dedicated to the history and promotion of the BMW E9. See our Disclaimer for a more detailed discussion of that topic. The BMW CS Registry (formerly the CS REGISTER) in its current incarnation began in January of 1981 and is a special interest group of BMW aficionados who appreciate and enjoy the CS Coupe. Those OEM delivery vehicles include the 2000 CS, 2800 CS, 3.0 CS/CSA, 3.0 CSi, 3.0 CSi-L, 3.0 CSL, and the 3.2 CSL. It also embraces those cars that still have an E9 chassis, but have been metamorphosed with younger mechanicals, meaning some cars now sport very different drive trains than those they were delivered with. All of these cars are interesting. All of them attract attention when they are driven or parked anywhere, anytime.
The history of the BMW CS Registry is most traceable from 1981 until the present. Some of our members are currently going back through time via their musty records, to try to recall the history of the CS Registry prior to 1981. From 1981 to present: Charlie and Sarah Richardson (1981-1990); Roger Wray (1990-1995); Wayne and Amy Lester (1995-1997); Art and Marilyn Wegweiser (1998-2005); Art currently sole curator. Prior to 1981, the BMW CS Register was edited and administered by Reid Peppin.
I, Art, currently operate this registry and administer it. I have all of the archives of the BMW CS Registry and continually strive to update the archive whenever possible. The latest editions to the archives are the new book: BMW Coupes, A Tradition of Elegance (BMW Mobile Tradition,1998) and the color charts for BMWs from 1968-1976.
The BMW CS Registry is considered a "Special Interest Group" by the BMW CCA but is not an official chapter, sub-chapter, or affiliate of the BMW CCA. Again, see the Disclaimer for a more details. The BMW CCA Roundel lists the Special Interest Groups currently as a courtesy to BMW CCA members seeking to locate others with similar special interests and/or addictions.
