Subject: RE: Events & A Tire SourceHello...
Coker Tire Co. is THE supplier for vintage tires. I've used them several times, as have others I know . . . their product is an exact duplicate of the original tires (made on the original molds), only with modern (better) materials. To my knowledge, they are the only place to get XWXs. Their tires are not inexpensive... $242 ea for XWXs... but where else would you get them!
Order with confidence!

Subject: RE: tire fitPerson: et al . NOBODY has asked you what the OFFSET is on your wheels. THAT is more important than either the width of the wheel or the tire. It controls 'where' the rim and tire are located relative to the strut-leg and inside of the fender.
Mount a rim, without tire if need be, onto the FRONT (that's the 'pointy' end near the engine ) and stick your fingers between the rear rim-edge and the strut-leg. You need about a half-inch clearance to the RIM, or 0.0001" to the TIRE to have a successful install. Tires stick out beyond the rims.
I have used a 265/60/14 on a correct-offset rim on the REAR of an E3. With the correct offset you can run 225/60's up front, not too sure about 50's. Be ready for hydroplaning in the wet with those big fat contact patches.

I have 14x7 rims. (stock was 14x6 on CS and CSi, 14x7 on CSL)
Does anyone have experience fitting 225*60*14 rubber on their coupe instead of 195*70*14?
Rubbing? Binding?
Marty

Subject: Re: tire fitMarty,
My coupe, a 70' 2800, has vintage 14X7 one piece BBS basket wheels circa 77' They were made for this car and with 205/60 14's the tires would hit the inner fender lips, the joint between the outer and inner fenders come together, when going through a dip and turning at anything above a crawl. 225's are just wider. I had the body shop next to my shop roll the fender lips when they repainted the fenders for the second time after the tire caught on the lip and ripped the paint and the tire. For proper color match (polaris) the whole fender had to be repainted trim line down. Expensive!! ROLL the LIPS Unless your car is in the weeds that should be enough clearance.Brian Fields
