Message-ID: Hello. It's been awhile since I've posted here; I've been quietly lurking with the mailings. I have a In-Search-Of request ... Anyone have a spare accelerator pedal for a 1973 3.0 csi (or compatible) for sale? I need a pedal with the rubber arm on the back as well as thoughts on the floor pegs since mine have rusted through. Rust. Go figure. And as a side, any thoughts on low engine power/really slow acceleration? My csi was just driven after a year in storage but to start it up, a friend used starter fluid in the air intake. Could this have affected anything? I had a really hard time hitting 45-50 on the freeway and exited immediately. Last time I drove the coupe it was much more spirited. Thanks for any tips. Is the air filter ok, does the air flow meter move freely, is the throttle butterfly opening freely (especially with the pedal/linkage issue you describe)? Also check for a banana (or a potatoe if you're in the NW) in the tailpipe. I think Carl out in Cali may have new pedals, if not, try Walleth & Nesch. Ones that REALLY fit an E3 or E9 or First-fives E12 & E28 .. I have an opp to grab a set of SPEEDLINE wheels (with hubcaps ), 15x7 with a perfect 15mm offset . They were on an E28 and have since been stripped and refinished really well -a process that costs at least $100 per wheel . They look a bit like the old ALPINAS that will cost you $1200 if you can find them , but they have a smaller centre-hub area and 14 straight spokes rather than the 20 on the Alpinas . I have a photo available to anyone who emails me off-line BMWBITS@BELLSOUTH.NET . You can truly bolt these on with upgraded modern rubber to dramatically improve your car's handling and drive to the upcoming concours -they're that nice . Give-away price of $550 plus shipping . Dont forget today is the 60th anniversary of George Orwells 1984 .....and Big Brother IS watching you !! Just a process of elimination. Insufficient advance will cause low power. Test with a timing light, or just remove, clean, inspect and replace, a simple job. Another quick, simple task is R&R the spark plugs, and while they are out check compression. Simple, but unlikely ... does the car role (coast) easily?
